General Description of Scripting

What is FastTrack Scripting Host (FSH) ?

• What is a Script?
  
  
  • A Script is a simple set of instructions, much like a Program, except that the instructions are executed in sequence, one after the other. Parts of the sequence can be repeated (a loop) and basic Decisions can be made, based on comparisons (if – then – else). Scripts are generally not compiled (turned into .exe), whereas Programs typically are.
    

• Why do we use Scripting?
  
  
  • We use scripts to automate a process (or set of commands) that would otherwise be executed manually.
  • If we can easily automate ("script") a process, we can save time, money and ensure accuracy.
