The UIU makes Imaging easy for IT1 Source

Consultancy firm relies on the Universal Imaging Utility for help during imaging

Overview

IT1 Source is a technology management consultancy that provides day-to-day systems management services to a range of clientele, predominantly in the healthcare and education sector.

From procurement to asset tracking, network solutions to consultancy services, the company aims to alleviate IT staff of the most labor-intensive tasks by managing the entire technology lifecycle.

Challenge

IT1 Source works closely with its customers to offer in-house or onsite system configuration, part of which involves managing large-scale deployments and rollouts.

One of the most time-consuming IT tasks that IT1 Source consultants frequently come up against is the cloning process, especially in environments where mixed and diverse hardware platforms exist across company desktops and laptops.

Barry Jennejahn, sales professional at IT1 Source, said: "We were finding that deployments were becoming increasingly complicated. We'd spend vast amounts of time juggling multiple images, especially on projects that involved mobile sales fleets using different models of laptops."

"The general consensus was that we needed to find a way to simplify the whole imaging process. We needed to make better use of our time in order to add real value for our customers and, on a whole, become more efficient as a company."

Solution

IT1 Source needed to implement a tool that could run alongside standard cloning software and enable staff to accelerate the imaging process so that its consultants could free up valuable time to focus on other elements of IT projects.

The company began to use the Universal Imaging Utility (UIU), a hardware independent imaging tool, which runs alongside all the major popular cloning packages. UIU allows IT professionals to create a "one-shoe-fits-all" hardware independent image that can be deployed across any desktop and laptop within an organisation.

Barry said: "Cloning was causing our consultants endless frustration until we discovered the UIU. We knew immediately that the product would make what was once a painstaking task easier. Through using UIU we realised that we could save a lot of time and money that was being drained through the imaging process and instead focus on our core business."

"By enabling us to create a single master image that could be deployed to any Windows PC, regardless of different hardware and driver specifications on target machines, imaging would inherently become a more hassle-free task."

Evaluation

IT1 Source initially purchased UIU to run deployments for some of its enterprise client base, including companies in the education and health sectors. The product has now become an integral part of the company's toolkit.

Barry commented: "UIU has made what was once a time-consuming and complicated process simple and streamlined. We are now able to provide our customers with better value and service, as we can manage imaging and IT rollouts more effectively than ever before."

"In every IT project where we have used UIU, we have been able to deliver better results. I am not aware of any product on the market that speeds up and simplifies imaging in the same way and we will continue to use UIU on IT projects and deployments in the future," he concluded.
